“IN THE QUIET OF MORNING’S GRACE"

Early morning in an outport Cove is a profound experience if you’re able to just sit and listen and watch it come to life.

 

I came from a family of seafarers and still have vivid memories of visiting my great grandparents and my grandparents home in Wesleyville on the Straight Shore of Bonavista Bay.

 

The smell of the ocean and the seaweed along the shore, the gulls flying overhead were entrenched into my conscience.

The outport coves around Newfoundland are special places. Their histories, their heritage and the people who live there and live off the sea, make each outport cove a spiritual place.

 

In this series of paintings, I aspire to capture the essence of “The Cove”.
